• Humpback Whale. With a skin covered with warts, bumps, and encrusted barnacles, its average length and weight is 13 meters and 31 tonnes.
• Minke Whale. Its average length and weight is 8 meters and 8 tonnes and it lives for about 50 years.

Toothed whales, on the other hand, have sharp teeth that help them catch their prey, such as fish and squid. The kinds of toothed whales that can be found in the Antarctic are the Orca, Southern Bottlenose, Sperm, and Southern Fourtooth Whale. Dolphins can also be seen, which include the hourglass dolphin and the southern rightwhale dolphin. Whales and dolphins are almost the same and they differ only in size. Everything smaller than 4 meters is considered a dolphin.

Other than various species of whales, various species of fish and birds can be found in the continent. Make sure to check out which ports you will stop at. You will need pack correctly and make sure to enough warm clothes with you, but you won't need them on the cruise ship.

2) Southern Europe - This is perfect for anyone and by far the most popular destinations that people go on. This is perfect for families, friends and couples on there honeymoon!

3. Cell phones don't work at sea! Take walkie talkies so you can communicate with your travel companions.

4. Eat at the second dinner. Book the second seating for your dinner. This will give you more time for your shore excursions and will mean you aren't rushing back to get dinner.

5. Rent a car. It is often cheaper for a group of people to rent a car instead of paying for shore excursions. Book it in advance so you can just pick it up for the day when you arrive at shore.

6. Request a large table for dining. The cruise line will try and match you up with similar people and you can make some new friends.

7. Take the kids. If you have kids then check the suitability of the cruise before you book. Most have kids clubs and activities as well as baby sitting services. Check that your kids are old enough before you book.

11. Don't buy all the photos as soon as you can. There will be a sale of them at the end of the cruise and you will get them much cheaper.

12. Expect to tip. The waiters only make about $35 a week so they need the tips to make up their wages.

13. Get a balcony if you don't like crowds. The ship decks do get quite crowded but a private balcony is a great retreat from the crowds.

14. Read the ships activities every night, you don't want to miss a thing.

15. Dress codes. Obey the dress codes. Most ships do have a dress code even if they don't mention it in the brochure. Take a smart set of clothes just in case.

3. I love to shop, and when limited to the gift shops on board the ship, that doesn't stop me from shopping. However, I tend to spend too much for things that I definitely don't need and probably could buy on eBay or on shore for a lot less. Sure, go ahead and pick up a few souvenirs of the ship, but don't go "overboard."

4. Before using your cell phone on the ship, check and see what you'll be paying per minute. Often the charges are quite high, up to around $3.00 per minute in some cases and sometimes more. Wait to go on shore to use your phone or laptop if possible.

5. Many cruises now offer the choice of an "alternative" restaurant in addition to your included meals. There's really no need to take advantage of this as it means extra money, since all your food is included in the price of your trip. However, if you hear fellow passengers giving rave reviews to the meals there, you might opt to eat one of your dinners there as a special treat. But otherwise, save your money.
